ToThe valedictory for the office bearers of the academic year 2023-2024 and the inauguration for the 2024-2025 term of FODSE took place on 12th August 2024 in the Video Hall, SVCE with the support of Dr. G.A. Sathish Kumar, HOD of ECE department, Dr. V. Vidhya, HOD of IT department, and the faculty coordinators of the club, Dr. T.J.Jeyaprabha, Associate Professor of ECE department, Dr. N. Devi, Associate professor of IT department. The guest lecture based on "How Data Science can strengthen Cybersecurity" was covered by Mr.Rakesh Elamaran, founder of Rootecstak. This helped the students gain knowledge on how different domains are integrated to achieve strong security. Over 45 participants of second, third and final years attended the event.

ToThe FODSE & IETE-SF,SVCE, in collaboration with the Departments of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Information Technology, organised the “Azure Essentials Data Engineering Workshop” on September 25, 2024 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm at the IT Marine Lab,SVCE. Led by expert Shanthababu Pandian, 60 students were trained in building data pipelines, transforming data, and using real-time processing tools. The interactive workshop encouraged teamwork and collaboration among students from different departments, making learning more effective and engaging.

ToThe FODSE & IETE-SF,SVCE, in collaboration with the Departments of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Information Technology, conducted The "UNiCode Challenge"in online mode from 24th to 26th October 2024. Aligned with United Nations Day and World Development Information Day, the event encouraged 11 participants to tackle global challenges and analysing them using Machine Learning (ML) techniques. Hosted on Kaggle, the challenge focused on analyzing data trends related to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), fostering innovation and real-world problem-solving.

ToThe inauguration ceremony of FODSE for the academic term 2023-2024 took place on 20th September, 2023 from 10:00am to 12:00 pm at the Library Seminar hall at SVCE with the support of Dr. G.A. Sathish Kumar, HOD of ECE department, Dr. V. Vidhya, HOD of IT department, and the faculty coordinators of the club, Dr. T.J.Jeyaprabha, Associate Professor of ECE department, Dr. N. Devi, Associate professor of IT department. Dr.JayarajaKumaran graced the occasion along with his guest lecture on “The Synergy of Data Science, BPM, and AI” which helped the students gain an understanding of how the different fields can be integrated in order to optimize processes and decision making.

ToThe FODSE & IETE-SF,SVCE, in collaboration with the Departments of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Information Technology, organised “Viz-a-thon: The Art of Visual Data challenge”, in collaboration with the Departments of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Information Technology, which successfully brought together participants to showcase their data visualization skills. Using diverse datasets and tools, they created compelling visualizations and presented in-depth analyses. Judges evaluated their work based on creativity, presentation, and ability to answer questions posed by them.

ToFODSE & IETE-SF,SVCE, in collaboration with the Departments of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Information Technology, organised "Ease The Error 4.0: 24-hour Software Hackathon," which took place from April 6th, 9:00 AM, to April 7th, 3:30 PM, at the Multi-Purpose Hall, SVCE, with the support of Dr. G.A. Sathish Kumar, HOD of ECE department, Dr. V. Vidhya, HOD of IT department, and the faculty coordinators of the club, Dr. T.J.Jeyaprabha, Associate Professor of ECE department, Dr. N. Devi, Associate professor of IT department. The event saw 29 teams of 4 to 6 members each, with 152 participants from various departments, working to solve over 70 problem statements across 10 domains. Out of these 29 teams, 5 teams won internships. With three rounds of judging, the hackathon fostered collaboration and creativity, enhancing students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills while providing a platform to tackle real-world challenges

ToFODSE in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and the Department of Information Technology, organized a Mentorship Programme to introduce beginners to Data Science and Python programming. The programme commenced on 11th February, 2024 and ended on 21st April 2024 with over 20 students enrolled. This initiative connected 1st and 2nd year students as mentees with 3rd year students as mentors, providing guidance on academic and professional growth. The programme created a collaborative learning environment, enhancing student engagement and knowledge-sharing. An evaluation test was conducted towards the end of course to assess the students’ knowledge.
