CIVIL ENGINEERING ASSOCIATION
Civil Engineering Association (CEA) has been actively organizing various programs like symposium, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, technical quiz, etc for the students, throughout the year. With students and faculty as its members, the CEA is one of the most active associations in SVCE.
The association comprises of office bearers holding various portfolios like President, Treasurer, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Senior Executive Members, and Junior Executive Members All the office bearers are elected every academic year by conducting election among the students.
CEA starts its activities with an inauguration at the beginning of the semester followed by conducting various events throughout the year. Through the activities organized by the CEA, students will upgrade their technical knowledge. Office bearers will get an opportunity to enhance their leadership qualities and team work spirit by coordinating various programs organized through CEA.
The CEA is formed with a view to various activities which are co-curricular like industrial visits, guest lectures etc to the students.

The Association was inaugurated on July 26, 2014 in video hall for the academic year 2014-15. Dr. S.LAKSHMIPATHY , Professor, S.R.M UNIVERSITY, Chennai, was the Chief Guest for the Occasion. The function was inaugurated with lighting of "Kuththu Vilakku" and a presentation by the Chief Guest on the topic "Fibre Reinforced Concrete ". The expert talk on “Desalination - Source of Future Water Supply” was delivered by Mr.J.Shanmuganathan, Ex-Technical Director, Befesa Infrastructure India(P) Limited, (A Business Unit of Abengoa, Spain) on 14 August 2013 in Function Hall. He gave an inspiring talk on the Hydrological planning, Technologies and economics of desalination, challenges and oppurtunities in India & Highlights of Minjur Desalination plant and the active role of civil engineers on the project. The expert talk on “EFFICIENT TRANSPORT PLANNING FOR INDIAN SOCIAL CONDITIONS” was delivered by Mr. D.SIDDI RAMULU, Project Consultant, L&T Ramboll Consulting Engineers Ltd, Chennai on 3 September 2013 in Function Hall. He gave an inspiring talk on the transport modeling, transport planning and Travel Demand Modelling. The National Workshop on “HIGHWAY GEOMETRIC DESIGN” was held on 21 October 2013 in Function Hall. The objectives of the workshop is 1. Broad discussion on Road Sector in India by a Field Expert 2. Expert talk on Transportation Engineering – Challenges & Issues by a Research Professor cum Professional from Anna University 3. To give an brief idea about geometric design of a highway to train students, research scholars, upcoming teaching faculties & practicing engineers 4. To provide hands on training for geometric design of a highway using MX Roads software to develop skills required for industry/consultancy. The Key Note Speakers are Mr. I. G.
