Academic Year 2020 - 21

Activities conducted by AAE during 2020-21.

The Department of Automobile has organized a one day National Level Technical Symposium on May 10th 2021 (online platform - Google meet). Thirty internal and forty external students from various colleges across the country registered for the event. The Chief guest Mr D.L.Vigneshwar (Lead Engineer, Vehicle architecture, Mahindra & Mahindra at Mahindra research valley) and the Head of the department Dr J. Venkatesan inaugurated the symposium at 9:00 A.M by lightening kuthu vilaku. The function started with the prayer song followed by the welcome address and chief guest introduction. A short presentation was given by the chief guest on the topic "Recent trends in Automotive technology". The AAE student treasure was given a vote of thanks for the event. The symposium coordinators announced the venue and timing for a different event.

1. Eureka-PAPER PRESENTATION

The Technical event provides a platform to explain the ideas in the form of a paper presentation. The event started at 11.50 A.M through the online platform Google meet, and a total of 5 teams participated in the event. The event coordinator's Dr.S.Premnath (Associate Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering, SVCE) and Mr A. Balasubramanian (Assistant Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering, SVCE). The technical questions was asked to the team based on the presented topics. Finally, two teams were selected as first and second place and the winner's were awarded with gift prize

2. LECTURE MEETING

Ms. Aparna Balasubramanian , EM Design engineer.e - propelled system, Chennai presented a lecture on the topic "E-vehicles on various fields". The online lecture started through online google meet platform by 10. A.M and ended at 11.30 A.M. 85 students from different colleges participated the seminar. The event coordinator Mr. G. Ravi (Assistant professor, Department of Automobile Engineering, SVCE ) coordinated the seminar.

3. WORKSHOP ON MATLAB

MATLAB is a tool used simulating various electrical networks. The recent developments in MATLAB make it a very competitive tool for Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Image processing, Wireless communication, Machine learning, Data analytics and electric vehicles. The Automobile Engineering student utilize the software to solve a basic set of problems its application. The event coordinator Dr. V. Ganesh (Associate Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering, SVCE) handled the session with 75 participants from 12. P. M to 2. P.M.

4. PART MODELLING AND ASSEMBLY

1. Part Modeling and Assembly is an technical event organized in view of developing the students ability in modeling a automotive component. The event's objective is to design a 3D CAD model and assemble them according to the blueprints given to the participants. The event coordinator Mr. Ramanjaneyulu Kolla and Mr. R. Sakthivel (Assistant Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering, SVCE) started the competition by 12:50 P.M. First preliminary round was conducted for through google forms for 15 minutes. The top 5 scoring teams were allowed to proceed to final round of 3D modeling and assembling. Blueprint was shared as a downloadable link to the filtered teams and the final round started by 1:15 P. M. The judges requested the participants to share the screen and evaluated their capability.

5. AUTOQUIZ

The event is intended to check the students capability in the recent development of automotive sector. Mr.J. Dhanabal (Assistant Professor, Department of Automobile Engineering, SVCE) was the mentor for the event. 61 students from different college participated the event. The event consisted of 2 rounds, the first round is multiple choice question and the google form test link for first round questions were posted in the Whats App group at 1:45 P.M. The short listed students from first round were allowed to attend the second round at 2:45 P.M. Finally the results were declared at the valedictory function.

6. HOW THINGS WORK

The event is conducted to check the capability of students in identifying the automotive components. 32 participants from various colleges across Tamil Nadu participated the event. The student coordinators displayed the component through online platform Zoom meet. The event was started at 3 :05 pm and the team were requested to select a random numbers in the power point presentation, in which each number have different automotive component. "learn by play" method was followed in the event to know about few components.The winners of the event were listed below.

Following the inaugural function, the events were conducted by team TRAXION with the presence of the department faculties. With the completion of events the respective faculties concluded their decisions and the results were announced in the valedictory function.

The valedictory function was started at 4:00 P.M in the presence of Chief guest Prof. Dr. K.S.Badrinathan (Professor & Dean Educational Development, Department of Mechanical Engineering, SVCE) and Dr. J. Venkatesan (Professor & HoD Department of Automobile Engineering, SVCE). The Mr. Manoj Prakashan. M (General Secretary of Traxion2K21) welcomed the chief guests and the participants. The chief guest elaborated the role of students in developing the future society. The student coordinator announced the winners for all the events. A cash prize of Rs. 500 was given for the first price winners and participation certificate was issued to all the participants. Mr. Saranraj (Treasurer Traxion2K21) delivered the vote of thanks and finally Traxion 2K21 was concluded with the National anthem.

The Department of Automobile & AAE has organized a one day National Level Technical Symposium TRAXION 2K19 on 25th September 2019. Honorable Chief guest Mr. M.Y. SivaChandran (Deputy General Manager, Product Development - Defense (Rtrd), Ashok Leyland Limited) and the Head of the department Dr. J. Venkatesan inaugurated the function. The events organized during the event were listed below.

1. Eureka-Paper Presentation

The Technical event provides a platform to explain the ideas in the form of paper presentation. The student's innovative thoughts and their communication skills are improved by Participating in the event. External and internal college students are allowed to participate in this event Nine teams registered the event and presented paper.

2. Motor Montage - Engine Assembly

Motor montage is a technical event conducted for the students of Automobile engineering. The event is conducted to enhance their skills in Core Engine assembling and disassembling. A model engine is given to the students, they have to dismantle and assemble the engine .The duration for one batch is 30 minutes. Extra 5 minutes will also be given. The theme of the event is 5 teams participated in the event and each team had a maximum of 2 students.

3.Guido - Pitstop

The aim of the technical event is to remove all the tires in a four wheeler and has to reassemble the tires by changing the front tire to rear and rear tire to front within 20 minutes. The student gets a hand on experience on tire removal and assembling. 15 teams participated the event from different parts of the country.

4. Drag plate - Identify Me

The technical event is to identify the engine, suspension, transmission system parts. The student coordinator displays the parts used in a vehicle. The participant has to find the correct component within 10 minutes from the given question. 30 teams participated the event. The following components were shown to each team within a time limit of 10 seconds and they were asked to identify it.

5. Workshop (3D Printing)

The workshop is for all those inquisitive about 3D printing technology. There will be a live demo of 3D printer in action. Agenda of the workshop is Various 3D printing technologies,3D printing workflow process, Live demo on 3D printing. 44 students participated from different colleges around Tamil Nadu.

Workshop is to provide an insight view of the working engine .A working engine model is displayed and the same engine is dissembled and assembled to the external and internal participant. 47 students participated from different colleges around Tamil Nadu.

The valedictory function was held in the video hall at 2.50 P.M in the presence honorable chief guest Prof. Krishnan S (Dean (Academics) Professor and Head Department of Marine Engineering) and Dr. J. Venkatesan, Professor & Head of the Department. All participants and winners received the certificate of participation & price money from the chief guest.

The various events conducted on the occasion include Paper Pitch, Brain Drain, Pit Stop, Head Start, AUTO EXPO, Spot Events and Demonstration of Mini projects by Second year B.E-Automobile Engineering students of SVCE. About 400 Students from various engineering colleges spread across the state of Tamilnadu participated in the event.

The Valedictory of Symposium TRAXION 2017 was presided over by Dr. K. Bhaskar, Professor & Head, Dept. of Automobile Engineering, REC held at Video hall, SVCE on 23rd September 2017. He distributed the prizes to the winners of the various events conducted and delivered a lecture on the topic “End of Life of Vehicle – Indian Scenario” for the students.

Senthil Kumar Govindan, Principal Member - R & D, Tractors and Farm Equipments Ltd., Chennai inaugurated the Symposium TRAXION 2016 & AUTO EXPO held at Video hall, SVCE on 27th August 2016 and delivered a lecture on the topic “Field to Table – A Green Revolution” for the students. The various events conducted on the occasion include Paper Pitch, Brain Drain, Pit Stop, Head Start, AUTO EXPO, Spot Events and Demonstration of Mini projects by Second year B.E-Automobile Engineering students of SVCE. About 220 Students from various engineering colleges spread across the state of Tamilnadu participated in the event.
