Youth Red Cross-SVCE Unit's inauguration for the academic year 2022-23 was held on 3rd November, 2022. It was inaugurated by Pulavar R. Manickam, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Chengalpattu District. Prof. K.R. Santha, Vice Principal of SVCE, presided over the event. The chief guest Prof. K. Satyanarayana, IINVITY, Chennai, gave Youth awakening day talk on the topic 'Values of Youth'. The participants were patiently and enthusiastically listened to their presentations.
Blood Donation Awareness Programme:
YRC SVCE Unit organised blood donation awareness programme (thro' online) on 10th November, 2022 with the chief guest Dr. K. S. Gokilaveni, Assistant surgeon, Government Headquarters Hospital, Kancheepuram. The speaker addressed the importance of blood donation and how donated blood is useful for victims in case of an emergency. It was very informative and motivated the students to donate blood. Dr. A. Bhaskaran, HOD, Department of Applied Physics, SVCE presides over the function.
Voluntary Blood Donation Camp:
Youth Red Cross-SVCE in association with Rotaract club, NSS, NCC and RRC of SVCE have successfully conducted the voluntary blood donation camp on 17.11.2022. During the camp, 391 units of blood were collected from the staffs and students (blood donors) of SVCE. Collected Blood was donated to KGH hospital-Chennai, RGH Hospital-Chennai, VHS Blood bank-Chennai, Red Cross Hospital-Chennai, Government Children's Hospital-Chennai, and Rajiv Gandhi Govt hospital- Chennai.
Youth Red Cross-SVCE Unit organised 5 days Mega Awareness Camp from 26th to 31stJan, 2023. Day 1 of the Mega Awareness program was inaugurated (Online mode) with warm presence of Prof.S.Thanigaiarasu, YRC-Zonal Coordinator, Anna University, Chennai. He addressed the gathering on how one must concern society as his first place of honour and importance of being an YRC member. It was followed by a Republic day speech competition where students participated enthusiastically and the winners were adjudged.
YRCMAP Day-II Event:
Day 2 of the mega awareness Program was held on 27th Jan, 2023, where we had YRC Orientation Program with our important honouree Pulavar R Manikam, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society Chengalpattu District. He shared his latter day deeds for the society with a strong message about YRC-SVCE unit and encouraged students to actively participate in the YRC events. He also detailed about Indian Red Cross society and it's service to the society. In the afternoon session Mr.R.Mohanavenkatesan, Vice President - IRCS, Chengalpattu District threw us light on various First aids techniques along with its importance and it was highly kept up by the participants.
Yrcmap Day-III Event:
The Third Day of our programme commenced through online mode on 28th Jan, 2023, with Environmental Pollution Awareness with Dr.R.Ravi, Professor of Chemical Engineering, Annamalai University, Chidambaram as guest of honour. He shared his experiences on how to tackle the existing environmental problems and came up with innovation solutions which include sustainable development, resource sharing and many more topics. Followedby Essay writing competition on 'Pollution Free Environment' was conducted. Students have posted their work and the winners were adjudged.
YRCMAP Day-IV Event:
Day 4 of the mega awareness Program was held on 30thJan, 2023 with Road Safety Awareness Program in presence of Mr. N Prasath, Road safety officer, Road Development Corporation, Tamil Nadu. He addressed the gathering on the safety measures one should inculcate to avoid all kind of tragic accidents and showed up some exclusive CCTV footages of road accidents and its impact on general public. We also conducted a Poster Making Competition on 'Traffic rules Violation' for the participants wherein the winners were adjudged.
YRCMAP Day-V Event:
The Fifth Day of our camp commenced on 31stJan, 2023 with Yoga awareness Program by the chief guest Ms Padmini Chandrasekaran, Senior Faculty, Art of Living, Tamilnadu. She addressed the gathering on the relationship between mind, breath and action. She also broke the usual misconception on yoga and made everyone comfortable with few asanas and eventually spreading some life skills on the same. The Valedictory function of the mega awareness programme was held in presence of Prof.S. Ganesh Vaidhyanathan, Principal, SVCE. Certificates and prizes were distributed for all the event winners' during valedictory function.
Awareness Program on Values of Siddha Medicine:
YRC-SVCE Unit Conducted an Awareness program on Values of Siddha Medicine in general health care on 11.03.2023 through Online Mode. Dr. M. Amali, Bhohar Siddha and Varma Care hospital, Madurai addressed the session and gave a clear idea on the importance and methodology of siddha treatments. This session was held in the presence of Pulavar R Manikam, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Chengalpattu district. During Q&A session various doubts of the participants related to siddha medicine were clarified by the speaker.
Youth Red Cross-SVCE Unit's inauguration for the academic year 2021-22 and webinar on "COVID'19 and its Prevention" was organized on 1st September 2021 through' online mode. It was inaugurated by Pulavar R. Manickam, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Chengalpattu District. Dr. K. Pitchandi, COE, SVCE, presided over the event. The chief guest Dr. A. Lakshmanaswamy, Associate Professor in Pediatrics, Coimbatore Medical College, Coimbatore, gave insights into the COVID'19 virus occurrence, transmission, and its control.
TEACHERS' DAY CELEBRATION:
YRC-SVCE celebrated Teacher's Day by conducting a speech competition on the topic "My Teacher" on 6th September 2021 through online mode. Nearly 855 participants took part in this program. Prof. K. S. Badrinathan, Professor of Mechanical Engineering & Dean (Educational Development), SVCE, presided over the event as the chief guest. Competition contestants gave their speeches in English/Tamil. The chief guest acknowledged the talent of our brimming buddies by announcing the best speakers of the day's contest and felicitated them.
FIRE AND ELECTRICAL SAFETY IN WORK PLACES:
Youth Red Cross, SVCE unit, in association with Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Institute of Chemical Engineers-SVCE student chapter, conducted an awareness program on 'Fire and Electrical Safety in workplaces' on 7th October 2021 through online mode. More than 950 participants took part in this program with the guest speaker, Shri. R. Balaji, Regional Manager, Department of Health, Safety and Environment of FLSmidth Pvt. Ltd., Chennai. Dr. N. Meyyappan, Professor & Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, SVCE, presided over the program and made it a grand success.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND PREVENTION METHODS:
YRC-SVCE Unit conducted an awareness program on "Environmental Pollution and Prevention Methods" on 26th November 2021 through online mode with the guest speaker Dr. B. Suresh, Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Annamalai University, Chidambaram, Nearly 750 participants took part in this program. Prof. R. Ramesh, Professor of Mechanical Engineering & Dean (Academic), SVCE, presided over the program and made it a great achievement.
YRC ORIENTATION & DENGUE AWARENESS PROGRAMME:
Youth Red Cross -SVCE Unit's orientation program and awareness program on Dengue Fever: Causes and Prevention Methods were organized on 27th November 2021 through' online. Guest of honour and keynote speaker, Pulavar R. Manickam, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Chengalpattu District and Dr.V.Vidhya, Professor and Head, Department of Information technology, SVCE, presided over the event and made it a grand success.
MEGA AWARENESS PROGRAMME:
YRC SVCE Unit organized a five-day mega awareness program during 25th - 29th January, 2022 where the students had the opportunity for live interactions and discussions on various important topics Viz. First aid training programme, Republic day competitions, Road safety awareness programme, National youth day celebrations and Yoga training & awareness programme. Several competitions were conducted during the mega awareness programme and the winners were felicitated by the chief guest and juries. YRC SVCE Unit, Through Humanity to Peace, certainly did train the students on social responsibility, health, life, and moral capacities.
VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION CAMP:
YRC SVCE Unit in association with other clubs in SVCE conducted one day post-pandemic voluntary blood donation Camp on 12th March, 2022. During the camp, 457 Units of Blood were collected from SVCE students and faculty members. Donated blood was given to Rajiv Gandhi Government hospital-Chennai, Red Cross Blood Bank-Chennai, KMC-Chennai and VHS hospital, Chennai.
Youth Red Cross - SVCE began its activities for the academic year 2020-21 on 14th of October 2020 with the blessing of chief guest Pulavar.R.Manickam, District Advisor, Indian Red Cross Society, Kancheepuram District. Prof. S. Ganesh Vaidyanathan, Principal, SVCE inaugurated the activities of YRC for the academic year and elaborated the success stories of YRC to the gathering. He also emphasized on the importance of peace and humanity with few classical examples and how YRC has been a pioneer in spreading peace through humanity. The commencement of YRC-SVCE activities for AY: 2020-21 had a great and energetic start. YRC-SVCE coordinator Dr.R.Govindarasu and assistant coordinator Dr.N.R.Sheela extended their fullest support throughout the programme which leads to successful completion of the event.
BLOOD DONATION AWARENESS PROGRAMME:
Youth Red Cross SVCE unit has been actively involved in organizing many social events and as a part of this activity a blood donation awareness programme was organized on 14th October 2020 in online mode. Pulavar R. Manickam, District Secretary, IRCS, Chengalpattu district inaugurated the programme. The speaker of the awareness programme Dr.P.Ravindran, Medical Officer, YRC Blood Bank, IRCS TN Branch delivered a talk on the subject. He explained elaborately about the importance of voluntary blood donation and requirements of donating blood to the needy patients. Participants had a nice interaction with the speaker.
DENGUE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Youth Red Cross - SVCE unit is greatly concerned with student's health and conducted a webinar on "Dengue Awareness programme" on 13th November, 2020 via online mode. The speaker of the webinar was Dr.E.Jayabarathi, Chief Medical Officer, Government Hospital, Sriperumbudur. She explained about the dengue fever: symptoms, treatment and prevention methods very neatly in the presence of Pulavar.R.Manickam, District Secretary- IRCS, Chengalpattu District and Dr.N.Meyyappan, Head of the department, Chemical Engineering, SVCE.The students knew about the precautionary steps and the treatments for the dengue fever.
WEBINAR ON ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION AND PREVENTION TECHNIQUES
YRC-SVCE Unit Organized a webinar on "Environmental pollution and prevention techniques" on 4th February, 2021. The speaker of the webinar Er. C.Muthuraj, Assistant Engineer, Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board, Erode, TN explained very clearly about the importance of environment, effect of environmental pollution and pollution protection methods. Students had a good interaction with the speakers. The programme was conducted in presence of Prof.K.R.Santha, Vice Principal, SVCE who preside over the webinar and delivered an enlighten speech about the value of the environment and its benefits.
ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMME
Youth Red Cross - SVCE unit and Transport section of SVCE celebrated road safety Month with Road safety awareness programme in hybrid mode on 17th February, 2021 for the benefit of college students and drivers. It was conducted with the presidential address of Prof. M. Sivanandham, Secretary, SVCE and an inaugural address of Prof. S. Ganesh Vaidyanathan, Principal, SVCE. The chief guest of the function Mrs. J. Sasi, Regional Transport Officer, Sriperumbudur gave an enlighten talk to the students and drivers about road safety, rules and regulations to be followed while driving a vehicle on road. The event was welcomed by Dr.Saravanan, Transport Convener, SVCE and thanked by Dr.R.Govindarasu YRC Coordinator, SVCE. During the programme YRC-SVCE Unit conducted a debate on the topic "Need of the day to prevent road irregularities: Advise or Repression" followed by a quiz competition for drivers with the coordination of Dr.N.R.Sheela, Assistant coordinator, YRC-SVCE. The winners of the competition were honoured by cash prizes.
YRC INDUCTION PROGRAMME
Youth Red Cross unit of SVCE has been actively organizing many activities inside and outside the campus and in part of that, YRC induction programme was conducted on 24th March, 2021 for the benefit of newly joined students in the academic year 2020-21. It was inaugurated by Pulavar R.Manickam , Secretary, IRCS, Chengalpattu District with the YRC orientation talk. Prof. S.Thanigaiarasu, YRC Zonal Coordinator, Anna University, Chennai delivered the presidential address about Indian Red Cross Society and its activities to the young participants. Both the guests appreciated the event organisers for the dedicated efforts and action towards the work.
FIRST AID TRAINING PROGRAMME
The day 24th March, 2021 was one of the golden days in the history of YRC-SVCE. It was a fine forenoon session wherein the students were brisk enough and enthusiastic to learn something new. Pulavar.R.Manickam, District Secretary- IRCS, Chengalpattu District, gave a very important lecture with the practical sessions to our students on the topic 'Lessons to be learnt during the life time by every human'. The major topics on the lecture session covered are first aid, safety and recovery. He gave a brief idea about first aid for accidents, fracture care and counselling on prevention of suicide. Students were well trained with CPR techniques which will be far helpful to treat people who are suffered from sudden risk of heart disease.
YRC VALEDICTORY FUNCTION AND YOGA AWARENESS PROGRAMME
In the pandemic situation, it is observed that Yoga plays an important role in maintaining human body oxygen level. To promote the yoga practice, YRC SVCE Unit organised Yoga awareness programme on the topic "Yoga for Students" on 30th March, 2021 thro' online mode for students with the speaker Dr. N. K. Mohanty, Professor, Department of EEE, SVCE. It is believed that it will help students to overcome the existing pandemic situation and to know more about the importance of Yoga in our day to day life. In the second session of the day, the valedictory function of YRC-SVCE Unit for this academic year 202-21 was held with the valedictory address by Prof. K.S.Badrinathan, Dean (educational Development) SVCE. At the end, all the office bearers were appreciated with the memento (shield) by the chief guest, YRC coordinator Dr.R.Govindarasu and Assistant Coordinator Dr.N.R.Sheela for their tireless work.
COVID'19 CAUSES AND PREVENTION METHODS
YRC-SVCE Unit conducted an awareness program on "COVID'19: Its causes and prevention methods" via online mode on 18th May, 2021. Dr.S.Jeevanandham, Former Dean, MGR Medical University, Chennai & Chairman of IRCS, Kancheepuram District and Pulavar R.Manickam, Secretary, IRCS, Chengalpattu District elaborated the safety measures and precautionary steps to be followed in the pandemic situation against COVID'19 and also explained its symptoms, effects and treatment methods. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.K.Pitchandi, Controller of examination, SVCE with inaugural address about COVID'19. Students had a good interaction with the speakers.
INDUCTION PROGRAM
Youth Red Cross(YRC)– SVCE began its activities for the academic year 2019-2020 on the 29th of August 2019. YRC-SVCE Unit consists of 4152 members, 120 Volunteers and 12 organising committee members to promote the several humanity based activities throughout the year. It was inaugurated by the chief guest Pulavar.R.Manickam, Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society and Kancheepuram District. The lamp of empowerment was lit by our beloved Vice Principal Prof.K.R.Santha. The commencement of YRC-SVCE activities for AY: 2019-20 had a great and energetic start.

Youth Red Cross unit of SVCE showered their greetings on the occasion of Teacher’s day on 5th September 2019. We had distributed the greetings to all the Faculties of our college. BLOOD DONATION CAMP (Phase I)
Blood Donation Camp Phase-I of AY 2019-20 was organized on 18th & 19th of September 2019 by Youth Red Cross, Leo Club and Rotract Club along with NSS and NCC of SVCE. During the camp, 667 Units of Blood were collected from SVCE students with 138 numbers of stem cell registrations. Blood was donated to Rajiv Gandhi Government hospital-Chennai, Government Children's hospital-Egmore, Red Cross Blood Bank-Chennai, KMC-Chennai and VHS hospital, Chennai.

Health and Educational awareness campaign was conducted by YRC on 08th January, 2020 at Government Middle School, Pennalur in presence of Pulavar.R.Manickam, IRCS District Secretary, Kancheepuram Dt. As a part of the campaign various games were conducted to evaluate the students’ memory power and concentration and the best students were appreciated with prizes. In addition to that Nilavembu-Kudineer which is a best known Indian Ayurvedic medicine to treat and cure dengue was administered to the school students
ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMME
YRC and Transport Section of SVCE celebrated Road Safety Week and conducted two days Road safety Awareness programme. It was held on 24th and 28th January, 2020 in SVCE. The programme was initiated with the presidential address of our beloved Secretary Prof. M. Sivanandham, along with the chief guests, Mr.S.Sudhkar, Motor Vehicle Inspector and Mr.M.R.Mugundhan, Regional Transport Officer, Sriperumbudur. The programme was presides over by our respected Vice principal Prof.K.R.Santha with the enlighten speech. During the programme, various competitions were conducted and the winners were appreciated with the certificate and prize.

MOTOR BIKE RELAY RALLY
YRC-SVCE Welcomed a Motor bike relay rally (MBRR) which was organised as a part of Indian Red Cross Society's centenary celebrations, from Kanyakumari to Chennai. The rally reached SVCE on 12th of March, 2020. The chief guest of the day, Pulavar. R.Manickam, IRCS Secretary, Kanchipuram Dist and Mr.R.Mathuram, State officer of MBRR, explained the importance of the relay rally to the participants of th rally at SVCE. The dignitaries were felicitated by YRC-SVCE Coordinator.
WEBINAR ON"AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON INSIGHT INTO COVID'19 IN THE PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE"
YRC-SVCE Unit organized a webinar on 16th May, 2020 with the topic “Awareness programme on insight into COVID'19- in the Past, Present and Future". The eminent speaker Dr. A. R. Anand, Ph.D, Senior Associate Professor, Vision Research Foundation, Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai delivered a detailed talk on the topic. In the event, 92 participants from various colleges and industries are actively participated with effective interaction.

theactivities and services of YRC-SVCE unit. Our beloved Principal introduced the
activities and the success stories of YRC to the gathering. He also emphasized on the

pioneer in spreading peace through humanity. Our beloved Principal presented a memento
to our prestigious chief guest. The YRC chairperson Dr. R.Govindarasu presented a
bouquet to our Principal. The commencement of YRC-SVCE activities for AY: 2018-19 had a
great and energetic start.
Road Safety awareness
Transport section of SVCE and YRC-SVCE Unit organised the road safety awareness program
on 4th of February 2019 in SVCE. The road safety awareness events were inaugurated by
Sriperumbudur region Motor Vehicle Inspector Mr. MR. Mugundhan with his enlightened
speech. During the programme, debate, quiz and mimicry about road accident and its
prevention were highlighted. Debate was conducted on the topic “Do youngster’s have
awareness about road safety or not?” with Dr. Anitha, HOD/CSE as the Judge. Our beloved
Secretary Dr. M. Sivanandham and respected Principal Dr. S. Ganesh Vaithyanathan
delivered their presidential address about road safety and its significance. The
programme was honoured by the chief guest, Mr. R .P .Senthilkumar, RTO, Sriperumbudur.
He addressed the gathering about the safety awareness, existing traffic rules,
statistics of road accident, accident prevention, etc. The entire program was
coordinated by SVCE Transport conveners Dr. S. Saravanan and Mr. S. R. Balasubramanian
and YRC Chairperson Dr. R. Govindarasu.
Kerala Flood Relief Fund
There was a huge disaster in our neighbouring state Kerala during the month of September
2018.Thousands of families suffered without food, clothes and shelter. Since they lost
their livelihood in the essence of spreading humanity through peace, YRC-SVCE volunteers
initiated a plan. There is saying that hard work will yield a fruit for sure, and there
came a success story in the annals of SVCE. YRCians made a magic and collected a fund of
around Rs.25,000/- from our fellow SVCEians. This proved that nothing in this world is
impossible when hard work and teamwork are united.

Dr.R.Govindarasu welcomed the chief guest and the Doctor’s team with Boutique The camp
started at 9 a.m at the Video hall in SVCE and the number of students who came forward
to donate blood multiple as time proceeded. Blood donors were guided by the members of
YRC-SVCE Unit. After blood donation, Donors were provided with juice and biscuits.
During the camp about 73 units of blood was collected.YRC coordinator Dr.R.Govindarasu
and Asst.Coordinator Dr.N.R.Sheela extended their support throughout the camp which lead to successful
completion of the camp

Environment Awareness Programme
CARE Club of SVCE in association with YRC-SVCE Unit organized an environment awareness
program on 27th of December 2018. Prof.T.Murugavel HOD, HSS Department, SVCE welcomed
the chief guest Mr .Madhav Patil, an environmentalist from Mumbai and initiated the
programme. Mr.Madhav Patil started the session with his ideology “BATHPILL” to the
crowd. Literally, bathpill means “skip a bath”. But Mr. Madhav defines bathpill as
“sacrifice, dedication & concern”. According to Madhav’s ideology, skipping a bath
inversely helps our farmers. Because each human being spends around 20 litres of water
daily for bath alone. If we do so, billion litres of water can be saved daily in the
world. Then he introduced another concept of NAILFREE trees. He added that, It is not
fair to nail a tree. He advised the gathering to preach the idea of nailfree trees to a
maximum extent. YRC chair person Dr.R.Govindarasu gifted a drop of water to our guest.
Members of YRC-SVCE rendered a great support to make the event a grand success. The
event made the importance of environment and the need to preserve it for the future.
Dengue Awareness
YRC -SVCE unit organised door to door DENGUE awareness campaign on 4th November,
2018 to
the people of Sivanthangal Village, Sriperumbudur Taluk. The awareness campaign
was
flagged off at SVCE by Prof. K. R .Santha, Vice principal and Dr. N. Meyyappan,
HOD,
Department of Chemical Engineering along with the distribution of badges to the
YRC-SVCE
organising team members. The campaign was kick started at Sivanthangal village
by the
chief guest Pulavar . R . Manickam, Secretary- IRCS, Kancheepuram District. He
provided
essential tips to the people of Sivanthangal village on the eradication of
mosquito
menace. As a part of the campaign, our YRC members distributed about 10 litres
of
Nilavembu-Kudineer (NK) to the people of Sivanthangal village. NK is proven to
be the
only Indian Ayurvedic medicine to treat and cure dengue at a faster rate than
English
medicine. During the campaign, the staffs from Sriperumbudur municipality
contributed
their support to our team. The campaign came to an end with a memento to the
chief guest
by Dr. R. Govindarasu.
Plastic – Free Zone Awareness Program
Waste produced by us and other creatures has to be degraded at any cause for not
causing
pollution to the Environment, but plastic is one such thing that has a very slow
degrading rate i.e. after thousands of years it still remains the same. Plastic
has a
very harmful effect on the environment if we dispose or throw it without
processing.
Therefore, it is necessary to create a plastic-free zone in order to control
pollution.
To kick start this awareness, YRC SVCE unit and IIChE – SVCE Student Chapter
jointly
organized an awareness program on this title. The event was held on 12th March
2019, at
Biotech Conference Hall in SVCE with the chief guest Dr. S. Jeevanandham,
Chairman,
Indian Red Cross Society, Kancheepuram District. The chief guest gave a brief
and
intellectual talk about the importance of the plastic free zone and made the
session
interactive. Dr. N. Meyyappan HOD, Chemical Engineering presented a memento to
the chief
guest after the talk. The programme was well organised by the YRC Co-ordinator
Dr.R.Govindarasu, Asst.Coordinator Dr. N.R. Sheela and IIChE Coordinator Ms.PG Priyadarshini and
the
event become a grand success.
Eye Donation awarness
Eye is t he one of the most important organs of human body through which we can
see this
beautiful world created by God. So, it becomes necessary to take care of our
eyes.
YRC-SVCE unit organized an eye donation and screening camp on 4th January 2019
in Video
Hall, SVCE. YRC Coordinator Dr. R. Govindarasu welcomed the Doctors and their
team with
boutique. Dr. M. Nishanth, the chief guest of the function gave a brief talk on
the
title “Common Eye Problem and Importance of Eye donation”. This talk was given
among 120
students for an hour with great insight. After the talk Dr. N. Meyyappan, HOD of
Chemical Engineering presented momento to the Chief guest and their team. Eye
screening
camp was initiated after the chief guest talk. During this camp, 103 students
and staff
members actively participated and screened their eyes. The camp was successfully
completed with the coordination of Dr. R. Govindarasu, Dr. N.R. Sheela and the
YRC
volunteers.
