MOU
A Memorandum of Understanding for two years starting from 23rd January 2017 is signed with GEMINI COMMUNICATIONS, Alwarpet, Chennai to set up a DIGITAL FORENSICS LAB at the premises of SVCE.
A Memorandum of Understanding for three years starting from 7th September 2018 is signed with INFOZIANT TECHNOLOGIES, Pazavanthangal, Chennai to set to train students and faculty from SVCE under the fields of Cyber Security and Network Security.
National Resource Centre Lab

Guest Lecture on “Cyber Security Awareness”
Ms. Sowmya, Security Analyst, Cyber Security Works, Chennai gave an overview about the need for cyber security awareness and various methods to prevent ourselves from the ongoing cyber attacks that are happening. Around 60 students and 30 faculty members attended the event on 30-10-2021.
Webinar on “Introduction to Cyber Security”
Mr. Apparao Doddi, Head-Application Security, TCS, Chennai gave an overview about the importance of cyber security and the roles that are in demand for the current cyber security scenario. Around 75 students and 20 faculty members attended the event on 21-10-2021.
ATAL FDP on “Cyber Crimes, Defensive Practices and Safe Computing”
Ms. N. Devi, Ms. P. Leela Rani and Mr. AR. Guru Gokul from IT department have completed AICTE ATAL FDP on “Cyber Crimes, Defensive Practices and Safe Computing” conducted by Puducherry Technological University, Puducherry from 12-07-2021 to 16-07-2021.
Workshop on “Start Hacking Legally”
Mr. Siddharth Mannar Mannan, Assistant Managaer, GEP conducted a workshop on “Start Hacking Legally” on 10-04-2021 and 85 participants (75 students + 10 faculty) attended the programme.
ATAL FDP on “Deep Learning for Cyber Security”
Dr. G. Sumathi, Ms. D. Jayanthi, Mr. AR. Guru Gokul was sanctioned a grant of Rs. 93,000/- from AICTE ATAL Academy to conduct online ATAL FDP on “Deep Learning for Cyber Security” from 30-11-2020 to 04-12-2020. 250 participants from all over India participated in the FDP.
National Seminar on Cyber Security
Mr. R. Tharun and Ms. V. Revathy of II year IT attended the National Seminar on Cyber Security at SSN college of Engineering during 14th and 15th March 2019.
Seminar on Awareness on Cyber Security
Mr. Raaj, Principal consultant, Cyber Raaj gave a technical seminar on Cyber Security Awareness and various opportunities in the field of Cyber Security for the Second, Third and Final Year students and Faculty members of Information Technology on 27thSeptemer, 2018.
Cyber Security Faculty Development Programme (CSFDP)
Two faculty from Inforamtion Technology department, SVCE has attended the Cyber Security Faculty Development Programme (CSFDP), held on 22nd June2018 at Rajarajeswari Medical College Campus, Bangalore. The faculty members attended the workshop on behalf of SVCE are:

Certified Cyber Security Professional (CCSP Level II)
Dr. T. Sukumar from Inforamtion Technology department, SVCE has attended and completed the Certified Cyber Security Professional (CCSP - Level II), held on 23rd and 24thJune 2018 at Rajarajeswari Medical College Campus, Bangalore.
Certified Cyber Security Professional Workshop – 2017
Mr. Mithun Kumar. A, of III Year B.Tech IT has attended the cyber security workshop conducted during 24th and 25th February 2018 at Anna University, Chennai and successfully completed the Certified Cyber Security Professional (CCSP) certification requirement and was recognized as a Level – I Cyber Security Professional by National Cyber Safety and Security Standards.
Motivational Talk on Entrepreneurship in Cyber Security
On 5th January 2018, Mr. Vamsi Krishna, Co-founder, Data Box Academy addressed the students about the Entrepreneurship possibilities in the field of Cyber Security. He also gave an insight about the current global trends like Crypto Currency and Bit Coins. The students were very eager to know about the Block chain techniques and its impact globally. The session was very much interactive.
Projects Submitted
Mr. J. Viswam, Mr. Sakthi Narayanan and Mr. Varun Krishna of III Year B. Tech IT along with Mr. AR. Guru Gokul, AP/ IT submitted a project proposal titled “Fingerprint Payment” for secure payment of money during online transaction to DST on behalf of EDC cell of SVCE.
Guest Lecture on Cyber Forensics
On 28th December 2017, Ms. P. Lavanya, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime Cell – Chennai delivered a guest lecture on Cyber Forensics. She gave an insight about various cyber security threats and online attacks that are happening in day to day life. The students got an insight on the importance of Cyber Security and Safety.
Followed by the session, Mr. Avinash, Sub Inspector of Police, Chennai presented various real time softwares used for security and cases they have handled in the past. He also provided an insight about how to tackle the online mocking attacks against women. At the end of the session, students had a chat with him about his experience in various cases.
Short Term Course on Introduction to Cryptography
Two Faculties from the Department of Information Technology has successfully completed a One Week Short Term Course on Introduction to Cryptography held during 1st to 5th November 2017 at National Institute of Technology, Trichy. The faculty members attended the course on behalf of SVCE are:

Hackathon on Digitalization
On 3rd of March 2017, a One day Hackathon on Digitalization was conducted. Mr. Jayaraj Kumaran, Tech Lead, Cognizant Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Chennai has delivered a key note address on “Critical Information Infrastructure”. He is an alumnus of our department. He has done projects related to Information Security and Information Management.
The Head of the Department motivated the students to take awareness in Information security and management. The session lasted for about an hour. Resource person started the lecture with the topic Information Security. He then explained the need of Information Security and Management of Critical Information in the present world secnario and ended the lecture with a query session. The students got an insight on the importance of Information Management and its needs.
Followed by the session, the hackathon event was kick started by the Resource person. Students from II and III Year of Information Technology were divided into 60 batches. They were given 6 hours time and asked to develop a solution for any social relevant problems. At the end of the day, winners were awarded prizes and certificates on behalf of SVCE. The NCSSD, National Resource Centre was utilized to conduct the event.
Cyber Security as a Profession
On the 3rd of February 2017, Mr. ShyamSundar delivered a lecture on “Cyber Security as a Profession”. He is currently working in Ernest and Young as a Cyber Security Analyst, located in Chennai. He is an alumnus of our department. He has done projects related to Cyber Security. He is working as a white hat hacker in the company.
The Head of the Department motivated the students to take interest in Cyber Security and gave many positive points. The session lasted for about an hour. Resource person started the lecture with the topic Cyber Security as a Profession. He then explained the need of Cyber Security in the present world secnario and ended the lecture with a query session. The students got an insight on the topic of Cyber Security.
